Last week Tate told the man at the grocery store he was going to be a earth archaeologist, a space archaeologist, and a person who tells people about Jesus(I’m proud of that last one, and his big heart). Then he asked the bagger why he only had one job. Which was hilarious! Then he asked me why I don’t have a job. You better believe I quickly corrected that one! I love Tate’s fearlessness, and zest for life, even if it is a tad embarrassing at times.
He came home from TaeKwonDo sad because he didn’t get an achievement some of the other kids earn, mind you he is the youngest in the class, and has only been going a few months. Crying from the back seat he said “ MY SADNESS(tears) ARE HOT!”
His bedtime prayers were “Dear Jesus, Thank you for chicken on the bone and making Santa.”
Keegan’s were heartfelt with appreciation and recognition of how lucky we are to live in America and have all we have." Dear Jesus, Thank you for freedom, family, food, clothes, and a home...which some countries do not have"- He is really started to grasp, how little some have, and to have compassion. Something I have prayed and will continue to pray for in my boys hearts. I read his what “I’m Thankful for” story out of his writing journal and it was thought provoking and sweet.
I want to look at parenting with the end goal in mind. The teenage years aren’t far, they are really, they are going to happen. And what we do today does matter. Although, no matter how much we screw up as parents God protects, God has a plan , and God protects.
Snuggling with this sweet one for Elmo time is just about as good as it gets.
