Oh The Memories

So, my long term goal has been to find a way to safely store all the boys report cards, keepsakes, favorite crafts, handwriting, and all those very important 100% grade tests in a functional, efficient, space that can easily be accessed to add more stuff as the years go on. I saw an idea once I really liked that suggested taking pictures of your kids artwork, and storing it on the computer as an alternative to having boxes of stuff sitting around.  Thankfully, I didn't follow through and ditch all their sweet artwork even though the obsessive organizer and throw-er-outer in me seriously considered it. For me there is just something about holding the real deal. That sweet little picture your, 2, 3, 4 or how every old drew. Remembering how hard they worked on it.  Anyhow, I still have the Pinocchio book I made with my dad and it means a lot.

When Keegan was little he was almost never without a pen , pencil, crayon or marker and paper. He still does lots of drawing and stories but not as much as before.  Some of my favorite pictures were when we were in transit and all he has was a pen or pencil and some random paper. Of course those turned out to be the most unique drawings, however when I look at them I think. Wow, this is awesome to bad its on a napkin ;) I always liked/like to ask the kids what their drawing is about(if its not obvious, which as you know, sometimes its not). Keegan has an abstract mind when it comes to art. I think he gets it from  his Grandpa(my dad). That's why some of the pictures mean so much. Not the picture he drew but the story behind it. There is one of he and I walking, with hearts over our heads. He said about that picture,"We have hearts over our heads because we love each other".

Kindergarten is impossible....  When it comes to downsizing. Every thing they make is so darn cute.  Keegan has a journal as thick as a paperback book for every month of the year in Kinder. I can't  just chuck those boogers but I shutter at the thought of how many boxes I'm going to end up with when this is all over :) He also has a animal book, about me book, science book- all thick, 3D crafts(that cannot be stored in a file). When if comes to those I really about considering taking a picture and not keeping all of them. Keep in mind, the amount of stuff I have is only the favorites anyway. And it still too much.

hers a look at my current mess. this has all kind of things thrown in and somehow doesn't look that bad in the picture. Problem is, I have no room to grow and the "under the bed" storage bin DOESN'T FIT under the bed , so its taking up a lot of closet space.

A dream would be to find a file box with lateral files large enough to store Keegan, Tate , and Asher's stuff in once place. I thought about one for each and that might be how it ends up but its a lot to keep up with and takes up more space. And no, I don't want a whole filing cabinet. I think I found one by the way, but couldn't find the folders to fit. HMMM?

Anyway, this is our upgrade for now, still need more room to grow, so Ill be switching these folders to a bigger file but I labeled each one for Preschool, Kinder, 1st, 2nd, etc and each one will contain a small folder with report cards and school photo extras
So that's what I'm currently tackling on this dreary day. I would be enjoying this by the way, if I didn't have my need to workout looming over my head!

Get ready for picture overload. I just can't help myself!

three pictures from Keegan A-Z book made in Kinder. A bee, racoon, and jellyfish. Aren't they the cutest ever?

Keegan made these at home. I think he was 5. When we woke up Thanksgiving morning. The pic on the Left is the out side and inside it reads "Tate, I love you for my whole life". He made one for each member of the family

That is some serious organization. Mine is all piled into the top drawer of a filing cabinet. Stacked hap-hazardly. Finish yours and then I'll pay ya to do mine. MmmmK? :)
