The day started with the boys not so quietly talking about the surprises they had planned out my bedroom door. I got cards, a yummy cake, hold your breath Janell.... I GOT THAT CAMERA LENS I'VE BEEN WANTING!! One of my favorite parts was hearing Tate ask Greg, "can I pick some flowers for mommy's birthday?" My Facebook wall had such sweet post from so many friends and family, I got teary-eyed reading them. And I got some really sweet cards from friends too.
To end the day I got to spend dinner with some very special friends who bring smiles to my face on a daily basis. God is so good to have brought these ladies into my life, I can't imagine a day without them. Japanese cuisine it was. And interestingly enough, this week mark a year since leaving good old Japan. This year(like most) has been a wild ride. But, even with all the changes, adjustments, deployments, and TDY's this year has felt comfortable. The only word I can think of to describe being back in your own country. Heck, at least if I have a problem I can ask for help in a language I can fluently speak.
I am so thankful to have lived another year, healthy and happy, with a family, and every need met. I am one lucky girl.
Since I'm such a fan of "now and thens"…..
Here I was back in good old 1984.
I’m the little one with the big booty and the sassy look on my face. Yup, not but has changed. I think I’ll skip the “now” for fear of coming off narcissistic. And that’s my dad who was only 25 or 26 in this picture- crazy and also, my big brother, Patrick.
Thanks friends for loving me though the good, the bad, and the ugly.
