job swap

Last weekend I had the opportunity(for the second time) to see what my husband really does at work. He did my job. He is nicer than I am, when I had to do the “ O’dark-thirty” wake-up that he does everyday he woke up too, to see if he should make coffee. Then he laid back it bed and said “this just feels so wrong”. I have no problemo staying in bed later, in fact, I can’t seem to get enough sleep. So me and two girls drove to the base and after  following military processes and procedures we boarded the KC-135 four hours after leaving home!! This is the same time frame he has although he isn’t sitting around waiting and being bused around he does have to show hours before flying. That would be a problem for me seeing as though I'm impatient!

this is oxygen….really!

Not sure what I can say without getting my wrist slap for not adhering to OPSEC(Operation Security) seeing as though this is the intranet and all, but we flew to a different state and refueled a C-17. Yes, sir-ee we gave gas mi- air from on plane to another. It’s pretty cool if I do say so myself.

Just so you know, it’s not at all like flying American Airlines. Passengers ride in jump seats, it’s really loud, the temperature changes are extreme, and  you have to carry around your own oxygen if you get up. The oxygen mask is not a mask  and  looks more like popcorn bag made of Saran wrap(see above), We won’t talk about the bathroom amenities. That is “special”.  Greg does this day in and day out sometimes twelve or more hours a day, without a day off for a week. I did it for maybe five hours and I decided while the mission is cool,  and necessary, buttttttttttttttttttt I think this was my last spouses flight.

Greg might have felt the same about his day doing my job but he didn’t say. Plus the kids are so darn lovable, how could you feel that way?
