Less is more

I’ve been seeing nothing but Lego for like, years…And even more the last few days. This the second year in a row that Keegan asked for a Lego Party. We didn’t really have a party last year, and this may be the last time he asked for a Lego Party, soooo even though it isn’t a big year like 10 or 16 we had a few friends over. Gotta do it when you can because in a few years we will be somewhere new and we might not have any friends local, like the super awesome amazing ones we have now.

In the past if I was going to do a birthday party , I was going to do a BIRTHDAY PARTY!  I enjoy this sort of thing, the planning, decorating, baking, etc. There is a time for that, if you like that sort of thing...But, at times I have found less is more. Especially with kids. Do they really notice anyway? If they have each other, some cupcakes, and a few presents I think they are perfectly content. Now don't be thinking Im never going to fo a fancy schmancy party again. Just not this week, month , or year.  Okay, probably this year. Asher is turning two in November, and that means my last year to pick before he decides he wants a Spiderman Birthday every year for the next 16 years.
With no further adue, this is what I call Lego Head Simplified Party.

We played three games---1. Guess how many Legos, 2. A relay race with a Lego in spoon instead of the egg, 3. We dropped Legos in a glass bottle (ya know, kind of like that old-fashioned game where you drop a cloths pin in). Short enough and easy enough to keep eight little boy's attention.

I almost forgot, about the snack. I used a small round cookie cutter(the kind the make fondant circles) and cut circular cheese, put with crackers, the kids “built” Legos to eat. Another (probably easier idea I had--afetr the fact..slice string cheese). Usually, when I try to do something, anything cutesy. It doesn’t go well, the kids are interested , or whatever, but I think the fact this was simple enough that it took two seconds and it involved food it seemed to be a hit. Simple = good. See??? Even the kids agree.

I wish I could have gotten pictures, especially the relay race. Sometimes I really wish I had more hands. All the kids were cute and seemed to have fun. All the kids got ribbons at the end. keegans party (31)

We had Legos out at the table when everyone arrived. This was pretty good for keeping them busy. If only the Lego arms weren’t so hard to put on. Will someone PLEEEASE write the company about this???

Of course ya havvvvvve to have cupcakes. I made the little picks with cardstock, printed out Lego heads, and toothpicks
